Injuries and disappointment: Skjern finishes in 6th place

By Nicklas Thygesen

Saturday opened wonderfully with the 20th edition of the Skjern Bank Grand Prix, which set a record with no less than 1,572,364 kroner paid into Skjern Handball - in front of a completely sold-out sponsor lounge.

A couple of hours later nearly 3,000 spectators were ready to support the green in the chase for the important 4th place, but from there it was almost all uphill for the Skjern team.

Worst of all, Jakob Rasmussen had to leave the court early in the first half with what appears to be a serious injury, while Marcus Midtgaard and Jonathan Würtz likewise limped off in the following minutes with injuries. The extent of the three Skjern profiles is not yet known - we will update as soon as possible.

Not the best conditions for Kasper Søndergaard on the coach’s bench, but nonetheless, the West Jutlanders created a host of great chances, which were squandered grossly.

What started so well ended so frustratingly.

Skjern lost 24-26 to Nordsjælland Handball, and thus finished in 6th place in the regular season.

That means Skjern opens the playoffs at home against GOG - either next Saturday, Sunday or Monday. More info tomorrow. Ticket sales start Monday at 12:00.

This is how the group looks:
1. Aalborg Handball: 2 points
2. GOG: 1 point
3. Skjern Handball: 0 points
4. Fredericia HK: 0 points
