Kasper Søndergaard leaves Skjern Handball after 15 years

An era at Skjern Handball is coming to an end.

After 15 years at the club, Kasper Søndergaard leaves Skjern Handball after 15 years has chosen to exercise a clause in his contract, and will continue as head coach at Sønderjyske Handball for the next three seasons.

Søndergaard has left a huge mark on Skjern Handball. As a player he helped win all Danish titles with the club, and since then he has played an important role on the coaching staff – most recently as interim head coach.

- This summer we will say goodbye to one of the club’s major profiles and personalities in its history. Kasper has been a foundational part of the club for so long that it feels almost unnatural that he will not be here going forward. It will be sad to say goodbye, but we meet the decision with great respect. Kasper has earned the opportunity, and we wish him all the best going forward, says Carsten Thygesen.

For Kasper Søndergaard the decision was not made without emotion:

- Skjern Handball means a lot to me, and I had also been looking forward to next season together with Oscar Carlén. But this opportunity was too exciting to let pass. Offers like this do not necessarily come again.

- It will be special and emotional to say goodbye in the summer, but right now I am solely focused on qualifying us for the fifth Danish Championship semi-final in a row, says Kasper Søndergaard.
