He received his handball education at Skjern Handball – and this summer the circle finally closes as a professional at the West Jutland club.
After a total of 17 seasons in the green jersey, Morten Vium has made the decision to end his handball career when the current season is finished.
– It has not been an easy decision, because handball – and especially Skjern Handball – has always been a big part of my life. But I am happy that Skjern will be my last club as a professional. Of course I had hoped and believed that the last two or three years would have been different, but due to my knee injury it has been a different course than we all had hoped for.
– I am proud of what I have achieved in my career, and now I will do everything in my power so that we can bring another medal home to Skjern before the handball shoes are put on the shelf, says Morten Vium.
Morten Vium, who made his league debut for Skjern Handball in the 2010/2011 season, returned to his childhood club three years ago after, among other things, seven seasons in France with US Ivry and Chartres.
At Skjern Handball there is also great recognition of Morten Vium’s efforts over the years.
– Morten is the embodiment of a true Skjern boy. He has been part of the club for countless years, where he went all the way through our youth system, developed into a league player and later had a fine career in France. Three years ago he returned home to Skjern, and thus the circle in many ways was closed.
– That he now also ends his career at the club where it all began makes the story very special. Morten has always represented Skjern Handball in an exemplary way – both on and off the court. We are proud of what he has achieved in the green jersey, and very grateful for the effort and loyalty he has shown the club through all the years, says director of Skjern Handball, Carsten Thygesen
