For the first time in five years: Skjern misses the Danish Championship semi-finals

By Nicklas Thygesen

Skjern Handball has played out its chances in this year’s Danish Championship playoffs.

Sunday afternoon the hosts from GOG won 36-27, which definitively means that the Skjern team now has no chance of a fifth Danish Championship semi-final in a row.

After a close first half the match was basically decided once the clock passed the 40-minute mark.

The halftime lead of 20-16 was extended to 28-19, and from there there was no way back for the Greens, who lost 36-27.

Joaquim Nazaré was top scorer with seven goals.

The defeat means that Skjern Handball will play the season’s final match next Sunday, when Fredericia HK visits Skjern Bank Arena.

It will at the same time be the last appearance this time for Kasper Søndergaard Emil Bergholt, Christoffer Bonde and Jakob Rasmussen, while Morten Vium is retiring from his career.

We will also be crowning Player of the Year - in collaboration with main sponsor Skjern Bank.
