Skjern's semifinal dreams suffered a setback Saturday evening.
The West Jutlanders had otherwise given everything, fought and played very good handball for long periods against the defending champions from Aalborg, where it did not take many margins for the greens to get points.
But in front of 3,081 spectators in Skjern Bank Arena, it was especially Thomas Arnoldsen who showed his great class for the visitors, as he almost single-handedly carried the Aalborg jersey toward victory.
Kasper Søndergaard’s troops had again a large share of the match, as has often been the case against the North Jutlanders over the past many years.
The greens were right up to 31-32, one and a half minutes before time. Two consecutive goals by Patrick Wiesmach closed the match to the final result 31-34, and thus Skjern are forced to collect maximum points in the two remaining games if the dream of a fifth consecutive DM semifinal is to become a reality.
Jon Lindenchrone was top scorer with eight goals for Skjern.
