Skjern Handball on Saturday grabbed the season's first league win when TMS Ringsted was defeated 40-30 away from home.
After a first half in which the home team competed well, Skjern took clear control of the match after the break.
– We grind a bit in the first half, a bit like against GOG. We don’t have full control of the transition, and we also don’t reach the correct height in our defense, says assistant coach Rasmus Wilbek.
After the break the Skjern team came out with renewed energy, and the match quickly changed.
– We change the match immediately in the second half. We come with a lot of energy, maintain momentum and stand a nice 5-1 defense, forcing them to find other solutions. From there I think we controlled the tempo.
One of those who played an important role in the offensive defense was Mads Bjergfelt.
– Bjergfelt is doing really well in the five-one. He removes some situations away from the middle zone and helps make it difficult for them.
With the victory and 40 goals in the bag, Skjern can now look forward to the next task – and the season’s first league match at home in Skjern Bank Arena.
– It will be great. The boys are really looking forward to it. Today we show some of the quality we believe is in the team, and it is a very good starting point. It’s nice that we have gotten started, and now we have to go home and throw a party in Skjern Bank Arena, says Rasmus Wilbek.
