After a period without much playing time, Kristian Zetterlund got the chance between the posts – and he certainly seized it.
With a strong performance in goal he helped secure Skjern Håndbold another victory in Skjern Bank Arena. A performance that not only brought joy after the final whistle, but also an important confidence boost.
– It is a truly wonderful feeling. A great satisfaction, you might say. It is incredibly important for me personally and for my mental strength to get such a boost before the coming week, where we only have training because of the international break, Zetterlund says.
- It is important for me to prove to myself and my teammates that they can rely on me if Svend does not have his best day. We need that over a long season, and therefore it was really an uplifting match for me, says the Skjern keeper.
Although the Skjern goalkeeper delivered a strong effort, not everything worked from the first whistle.
Especially in the first half the West Jutlanders had challenges converting opportunities at the other end of the court.
– I think we stood really well in defence from the start, but we struggled a bit with our attacking play and didn’t really score on our chances in the first half.
– The only difference in the second half was that we scored on our chances. Then we pulled away and could calmly see the match out, he says.
The victory was also Skjern Håndbold’s fourth consecutive home win, and the strong run has created a special belief in things at Skjern Bank Arena.
– We have huge confidence in here with the help of all the spectators. I really think we have a strong home court where we are pushed forward, he concludes.
