Skjern Handball A/S' board has in an extraordinary board meeting dealt with the ruling from the Handball Appeal Instance, and has unanimously decided to appeal the decision to the Danish Sports Federation (DIF).
– We feel obligated to take the case all the way to the end – not least because the Handball Appeal Instance has left us with very unclear signals regarding the interpretation of the rules, says director Carsten Thygesen.
Voting ended 2-2: The chairman's vote counted double
The board is very surprised at how the Handball Appeal Instance has decided that the chairman's vote should be decisive, when Danish Handball's laws explicitly state that the appeal instance must make decisions by simple majority.
Thus, the chairman's vote counts double, which is directly conflicting with Danish Handball's legislation, says Skjern Handball's lawyer, Hans Jeppesen.
Owe our players to get the case clarified
– Although we do not expect that the appeal will change Skjern Handball's opportunity to participate in the Champions League in the upcoming season, we owe our players, coaches, and other stakeholders to get the case clarified with DIF.
- We are also appealing the ruling to ensure that both GOG, Skjern Handball, and all other clubs clearly know what is at stake before the season begins, says director Carsten Thygesen.
