Mathias Madsen's team had a long-awaited and relieving victory on Thursday evening.
After three tight matches with two draws, the green-blues finally broke the deadlock when Grindsted GIF visited a nearly full Skjern Bank Arena.
3052 spectators witnessed a Skjern team that took control from the start and quickly and securely took the lead by 4-5 goals.
A lead that was extended to 29-22 with 11 minutes remaining in the second half, before the guests - quite unnecessarily - capitalized on the west Jutlanders' technical errors and revived hopes for a major comeback.
The guests reduced it to 30-28, but the promoted team from Grindsted couldn't get any closer, especially thanks to a well-performing Tim Winkler.
The next challenge for the greens is on March 22, when the champions from Aalborg come to visit.
