Mathias Madsen: A fantastic performance

By Kristian Bro

Skjern Handball advanced to the DM final yesterday after an intense and dramatic match against GOG in Svendborg, where Mathias Madsen's troops secured a great 28-26 victory. A win that was built on a strong team effort, fighting spirit, and a great comeback after being behind for large parts of the match.

- I am really happy and proud of the boys. It is a great achievement we have delivered over a long time. We knew it would be a really tough away game, but it was strong to see how we kept fighting and never lost faith in each other. It is a huge compliment to the players and the whole team for the effort and will they showed. We have lost enough semifinals, so it is fantastic to finally take the last step and stand in the final, says Madsen.

He also highlighted the fantastic support from the over 300 traveling Skjern fans.

– We have really created something amazing here in the club. There are some people behind it, who have built up a fantastic fan culture that we haven't seen in a long time. They also had a great day today, and they should know that it means a lot to us. We could hear them almost as much as we could the yellows, it sounded from the head coach.

Skjern Handball can now look forward to the final against Aalborg Handball. A task that Mathias Madsen and his troops approach with great confidence in their abilities.

– The matches we have played against Aalborg this season have been closer than ever. We have drawn against them in two matches, so we believe that we can go to Aalborg and achieve a result. It is the toughest away game in Denmark, but we believe in ourselves, says Madsen.
