Skjern Håndbold has signed a contract with the Swedish national team player, Hugo Stuivers.
The 25-year-old line player has signed a two-year deal with the green-blues, where he will become part of the line trio with Senjamin Buric and new signing Joachim Møller.
Hugo Stuivers comes to Skjern after several seasons in the Swedish handball league, most recently four years with HK Malmö, who this season won silver in the Swedish league. In March the line player also made his debut for the Swedish A national team.
In Skjern there is great satisfaction with the arrival of the Swedish national team player, says sports director Thomas Klitgaard.
– We see great potential in Hugo. He is a strong two-way player who has performed at a high level for several seasons and has already built up valuable experience despite his age. At the same time we still see great development potential in him. With Hugo, Senjamin and Joachim we get three strong profiles on the line, who we expect will complement each other very well, says Thomas Klitgaard.
For Hugo Stuivers the overall setup at Skjern Håndbold was decisive for the decision to move to Denmark.
– Skjern Håndbold is a club with big ambitions, and that matches very well with my own ambitions. I have dreamed of taking the step to a bigger club and trying myself in one of the world’s strongest leagues. Therefore Skjern feels like the right next step for me, says Hugo Stuivers.
The Swedish line player also points to head coach Oscar Carlén as an important factor in the move.
– It has of course mattered to me that Oscar Carlén is head coach. He is a really skilled coach, and we have had many good conversations. But I also sense a club with big ambitions and a clear strategy, and that appeals to me a lot. I hope that we can aim high together and create something big in the coming years, says Hugo Stuivers.
